new CCW for summer

hey all,

I am having a tough time deciding what to buy for the summer season. I work in a place that requires me to move around a lot, and I can't really risk flashing a springfield champion to our customers. SOOOOO.........

I need something small enough to completely conceal in either a pocket or in waistband, but I also need to be able to move about freely without worrying about it.

My original thoughts went to a .380 but I'm not sure about the stopping power and the price of ammo is ridiculous for them right now.

Revolvers are an option, but the key part of this decision is price.... very limited on funds at this time. I know "you get what you pay for" applies, but I just don't have the $$$ for a Kahr or a nice new s&w airweight.

Kel-Tec PF9? Not really my taste but a lot of people seem to like them.

I voted Ruger LCP. I've got one; it's got an ugly trigger and the sights suck... but it's cheap (about $300 or less new), reliable, and very concealable.

It's about the same price as the kel-tec, but when I held them each, the Ruger felt much more well-made.

I personally carry a Taurus 85 ult .38 in pocket holster. If your not a fan of Taurus revolvers. I have good things about keltec .380's and the ruger .380 seems similar. I think the .380 is plenty of stopping power , but I am not an expert.

I have a Ruger LCP, awesome gun , you should see what it does to 1 gallon water jugs when loaded with Magsafes, i have a Kahr cw9, awesome gun, thin light and accurate, i hate the little J frame type revolvers no matter who makes them because i cant hit the broadside of barn with them, but last summer i purchased a 2 inch Rossi 462 in .357 mag, well made and accurate, and i can hit whatever i aim at , might be just within your budget.

I like the Keltec pf9 but it doesnt feel good in my hand, feels like is slidind out of the bottm of my grip,

The prices on the Ruger LCP is stabilising somewhat as production is catching up to demand.

You can get a used Kahr for about $300, the Rossi will run you $329, the LCP will Run You $279

And dont believe the BS you hear about the .380 if you dont believe ask all the dead people that have been shot by it, oh i forget -they're dead LOL

I would look at a Glock 26. They are excellent guns and easy to conceal if you do your part. I assume you have some flexibility with your clothing at work.

I voted for the Ruger LCP. I have one and like it very much.

Small, light, easily concealed. Not so great sights but easy to aim at close distances (it's intended use). I made an out of waistband / underneath belt holster which is very comfortable and will be great for hot summer days.

My S&W 642 was acceptable last summer. There were two instances where it was uncomfortable (hot muggy days while hiking).

I know you said money was limited but you might want to look at the sig p238. Awesome gun, got one about a week ago and shoots amazing, follow up shots are easy as there isnt as much recoil and snap as with the LCP. Sights are great and same with trigger, i could go on an on just my .02
