Default Is this a good 1911?

hey everyone im thinking about buying my first 1911 (first semi auto pistol too) and was looking at this particular model, a Springfield Armory GI 1911 .45 In Stainless, and for $550.00 it dosent seem like a bad price. any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. PS Im looking for a 1911 similar to the ones issused to the GIs in WW2 only in stainless. heres a pic.

Dont Forget To Give Me Some Good Rep! Thanks!

short of the roll stampings, and the ss in this case the gi spec's are a very close knock off of the ww2 issue pistols. the parkerized versions are almost a dead ringer of the pistols ithaca produced later in the war.
the lifetime warrenty that springfield offers isn't bad either.....though few need to use it.
all in all they are a very good value...however these days slightly less than when they were selling for 389.00 brand new.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

Buy it, for that price, and springfields are good quality I would pick it up.
