Anyone here work church security in SW PA - either as a professional or a volunteer?

I've been tasked to look into this field by my church, so I thought I might as well check here first!

Did you find the info you were looking for?

I have lots of experience in this. Let me know.
Sec. 21. The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

Sec. 25. To guard against transgressions of the high powers which we have delegated, we declare that everything in this article is excepted out of the general powers of government and shall forever remain inviolate.

IANAL, but according to how I understand it, if the church asks you to be security on any kind of official maner, then you are required to be act 235 certified as carrying the firearm is for an official duty. If the church just happens to know you cc, and mentions that they like it because it makes them more secure, then all you need is your LTCF.

In our case, I know we were accosted last fall by some fairly strong-armed sorts of panhandlers, who were following women of the church around after the service into the sacristy, the offices, and other areas of the facilities! We also had a self-medicating sort aggressively trying to shake down members for a handout.

A church over in Mt. Oliver a few mos. ago, had the 16 year old crazed son of a member, burst into the sanctuary on Sunday morning brandishing a handgun, looking to kill his mother! The local news reported that "the church's security team intercepted the youth, disarmed him, and held him 'til police arrived!"

Sadly, it's being prepared for those sorts of things that even churchs have to take into consideration these days.

I did some church security a few years ago for the weekly bingo game. While I was securing the bingo, someone stole the battery out of my car.
