Re: Ballistol Lube
These places Karl PA listed seem to be mostly Classic Pistol right? I just called. They don't carry Ballistol. I might just order from Midway but a $7.50 can ends up costing $22 after shipping and "special handling fees"! I can't believe none of the shops I've called carry this with so many good reviews everywhere. Weapon shild is another good product. They are from Western PA as well. Been talking with them about producing a marketing video for them.

Love the stuff!
Like EmptyMag I bought it for a black powder revolver, then ended up using it on all my firearms. This is the one solvent/lube that my wife can tolerate the smell of. If you have allergies, it will open the sinuses if you get close enough!
I've found it to be a great rust preventive. Rather than staying slick and oilly, it has a drier finsh and still works.

Ballistol
I picked up a can at Enck's Gun Barn. www.encksgunbarn.com
They had it on the shelf, along with about every other lube made. They have a great store there.
I couldn't wait to see what the Ballistol smelled like after reading so much on how loud the smell is...
Call me crazy, but I kinda like the smell. Sort of has a turpentine/licorice air about it. Not so bad. I put some on a rag that I keep with me in a paper bag all of the time now... I'm Kidding!!
It does seem to be a terrific, lube/cleaner/preservative, etc. I like the fact that it is good for wood and leather. Now I don't worry about my stocks and or leather holsters getting lube on them.

Re: Ballistol Lube
[QUOTE=L T C;1126399]Anyone know a place that has this stuff on the shelf around the Philly area?
Thought I'd try it for my revolvers. Looks like it'll clean and lube the gun and treat the wood grip at the same time.
I had never heard of it untill yout post, sound's like good stuff. I might have to try it out, as of now I'm a SLIP 2000 fan. IMO it appear's the all in one cleaners as Break Free doesn't stick as well as just lube's. The SLIP is thick and adhere's to the part's better and also has a good life under the extreme heat part's. IMO But I'm allway's looking for quality firearm product's.I'm Your Huckaberry...Say When:)

Re: Ballistol Lube
I ran it through the barrels on some of my stuff that I had already cleaned with other stuff, and the patches came out with some dark marks on them.
The bores shine after using the Ballistol, and the revolver cylinders shine too.
Wiped down the wood stocks on my rifles and pistols with it and the wood grain looks great. Wiped the rag soaked with it over some of my leather goods... and they look and feel great as well.
I sprayed it on all the door hinges on my cars... hinges are completely quiet and it seems this stuff is "heavy" enough to last a while with all the weather and water that gets into the door hinges. Seems like I have to hit them with white grease or oil a few times a year. I'll see how long the Ballistol lasts in there. The smell of it did not last long in the car. There was no problem there.
I dunno, this stuff seems like it does what it claims to do pretty well. It is tough to find on a shelf though. I was lucky the shop I was in had it.
Online it can be had, but the shipping jacks up the cost, but, what are ya' gonna do? If you want something and the shipping cost is part of the deal, you're gonna pay it, or add the Ballistol to something you're already getting from a Midway order.

Re: Ballistol Lube
seems like you can never find the good lubes in stores, but always able to find the junk lubes...
I like weapon shield and absolutely no one sells it in SE PA.Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty

One of the best uses is for "frozen" locks, especially those on a truck cap or tonneau cover. Frees them right up.

Re: Ballistol Lube
Ballistol works wonders on coroded battery terminals, cleans the white stuff right off and protects it from coming back. I mix it 4:1 with water and use it on all my guns as a cleaner , lube and preservitive. It will work it's way under lead buildup in a barrel and will wipe the lead out with a few patches.
The Germans got it right when they came up with this formula.
