Default Looking for a decent AR barrel

I am in the process of building my first SBR. So I am doing some research on barrels.

    Specifically I am building a 10.5" AR15.

I was curious to which barrel selection should I look at that offers decent precision and long barrel life.

I was also curious if a AR barrel chambered for .223 wylde will function the same as a 5.56 chambered barrel? Any differences or issues?

I saw some barrels that seemed like top choices that will not break the bank:
Yankee Hill Machine co. 10.5" $190
    ADCO Firearms custom 10.5" $245
    Spike's Tactical "government contract" 10.5" $230
Sabre Defense 10.5" $250 _mostly out of stock right now.
White Oaks Arm. Stainless 10.5" $250 - .223 Wylde chamber

    Any other recommendations?

The Wylde chamber is just as good as the 5.56

I would think that any of those barrels would work fine for you.

    Other "Top line" barrels:

    BCM
    Colt
    LMT
    Noveske

Not sure of their prices. Haven't checked it out lately.

I did look at Noveske and LMT, but they only sell their barrels with the proprietary gas blocks.

I guess I should have mentioned that I wil be using a Adams Arms gas piston retro fit. It requires that I use a barrel with .750 under the gas block.

BCM only offers 11.5 unfortunately. I will check out Colt though.

I've looked at CMMG and Daniel Defense, but they only have 10.3" Will a 10.3" barrel be an issue even though my receiver will be registered as a 10.5"?

If you didnt dp the form 1 yet just change it, The OAL should be close enough for GOV work. When its approved you can swap barrels from 7in to whatever, makes no diffrence.

Could I temporarily change my Ar into a 7"? From my understandings of what I read, I can swap any upper that is longer, but not shorter than 10.5". Unfortunately my forms are already pending.

I will have to look into it. The latest rumor mill is as long as its an SBR any upper is GTG. KInda like when you form a 20in barrel RR m16 its a machine gun, so now you can swap a shorter upper on it. If your forms are in let it be, dont call and change them. If you want the CMMG and its only .2 shorter find a hider that a little longer than the one you have. such as the smith hider is longer than a standard a2 hider. problem with the ATF is they are not consistent. YHM cant make the QD mite anymore but SWR and others can. go figure. I dont see you getting in trouble for a sbr thats only .2 shorter than listed. just adding a rubber stock extension will change the OAL, same as swapping hiders a2 for the kx3
