    Default Bad day at work....

equals a shitty day at bullseye. You know the old saying about 90 percent mental and 10 percent physical? This stands true for me. I had a crappy day today from the time I got up, and shot equally crappy at pistol league tonight. It didn't help that when I uncased my .22 I noticed that I left the red dot on and had a dead battery. Blah. Anyone have any tips for blocking out daily stress come competition time?

Deep breasts..... think about deep breasts. Oh,,,, maybe that should be deep breaths.... take deep breaths and blow them out. Several times.

Well, I dunno if you're into bullshit... But, I was 'required' to attend a 3 day leadership training course where they spewed "JFDI". JFDI = "Just Focus and Do It.". My company didn't need to spend $9k to teach me that, but it is true. Just fucking Focus and Do It.

The training, by the way, was part of Rapport Leadership International's programs. I went to the near-Vegas LB1 one (for obvious reasons). If anyone else has been, lemme know and we'll start a thread to vent. Some people are meant to be leaders (whether good leaders or poor leaders), trying to shoehorn idiots into being "managers" is not productive.

There's a reason they weren't banging the homecoming queen and now drive a gray Volvo.

Read "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle, It's a life changer if you can get past some of the weirdo-ness. It will help you learn how to turn off the constant channel flipping of the uncontrolled mind. 5 star book if you want to revolutionize the way you think.

    Hello Jules
Sometimes when you have a bad day at work nothing helps. Especially when you string a few together. You could be trying to relax doing something you really enjoy and it just doesn't work. I know I'll do better next time.
    Good luck.

How's it been Jules...from the look of things it could be better.

When I leave work it's like turning off a light switch...when I walk out that door I could care less about anything that happened there until the next day.
As far as your red dot...when you buy batteries for it this time buy a back up set and leave them in your shooting bag.
Maybe get a hold of some of us that you don't see more than once a year. That'll help get your mind off of things that really bother you...change up the routine a little...it does help.

One of my shooting buddies and I experienced this the other day. One malfunction in his otherwise flawless pistol, and he fell apart for the rest of the drill (70 round drill).

I've heard the Brian Enos book goes into a lot of the mental aspects of shooting performance, but I haven't read it yet.

After seeing how my mind game messes with my scores on the bullseye drills... I've been thinking I need to read it.
