Default What reason to carry?

I was filling out the paper work to obtain a LTCF permit in the state of PA and I looked at the question that asks why you are applying. I just want to see what other people put down as reasons they want the LTCF permit.

I checked Self defense, Hunting, Target Shooting( I called and they told me to check all that apply).

CCW? What state?

If Pennsylvania than it's called a LTCF (License to Carry Firearms)
I make this distinction becaue a PA LTCF alows yout o carry concealed throughout the commonwealth as well as open or concealed in your vehicle and cities of the first class (Phila) which would be prohibited without.

Anyway. Again, if PA then just put "self defense"
Here is sample reasons as printed in the PA Uniform Firearms Act:

(c) Form of application and content.--... One of the
following reasons for obtaining a firearm license shall be set
forth in the application: self-defense, employment, hunting and
fishing, target shooting, gun collecting or another proper
reason. ...
ref:http://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI...18/00.061..HTM

As useless information I'll add that I think the "reason" block is likely a throw back to the days when PA was a "may issue" state.

I checked "Self Defense" when I applied. However, FWIW this has been discussed before on the site and some checked "Other" and wrote in "It's my right", and that was accepted as well.

Since in PA the right to keep and BEAR arms for defence cannot be questioned, I just checked that box and got my card.

I thought that anything else I do with the weapon, i.e. shoot targets etc., was none of the states business.
