1911 High capacity clip
I am looking for suggestions for good high capacity clips for my 1911. I recently bought 2 promag 15 round clips which I have to say suck. They are ok up to about 10 rounds try to put anymore in and they don't feed the spring is too weak. So i'm a little dissapointed in them i have sent an e-mail to promag but don't have a responce yet. So I am looking for sugestions for 10rd and above clips that actually work. I have taken appart my gun and sanded and polished the feed ramp (by hand no dremel). First with 150 grit lightly, then 440, finally 600 wet. Its nice and smooth. The factory clips with fmjs feed completly flawless. Well thanks for what ever suggestions you give me.

Re: 1911 High capacity clip
Promag just sucks to begin with.. Most of the other 15rnd mags for the 1911 will be gimmick mags just the same made buy other crappola brands.

Re: 1911 High capacity clip
edit: I thought this was a hi-cap gun for some reason.
Does the gun work fine w/ standard mags?Last edited by XD45; March 3rd, 2010 at 06:05 PM.

Re: 1911 High capacity mag
i think you were premature in doing anything to the feed ramp, for starters. your issues seem to be with them mags you bought; why would you work on the feed ramp for that?
i don't know why you'd need hi cap mags for a 1911, but i know Chip McCormack makes some. they have a good reputation. i don't know if they work, personally, so you'd have to find someone who has one.

Re: 1911 High capacity clip
what are you looking for??
I had to post this. I found it awhile ago and have been waiting to use it. Someone was bound to say something. It's nothing personal. People around here get uptight about calling a magazine a clip.
Like previously mentioned, the Chip McCormick magazines have a good rep. I prefer to use Wilson Combat magazines. They are a little pricey, not high capacity, but work when they need too.Last edited by clarion44; March 3rd, 2010 at 06:22 PM.

Re: 1911 High capacity clip
yea i know some one would get me on clip instead of mag i go back and forth between the two but everyone undersands what is ment(sorry). The regular mags feed fine now. I sanded the feed ramp because i had some trouble with fmjs feeding with the factory mags. They work great now. As for the need for a high capacity mag where there is no great need for them i would be much happier having them.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.
