Re: M1 Garands - $375
Thank you, Noah! Maybe I will look into CMP instead.

Re: M1 Garands - $375
The CMP route wont work for me. I refuse to join any clubs, and I'm not home to receive any packages. My only choices are drive to upper OH, which I refuse to step foot in Ohio. Or get ass raped by someone selling one privately. Or this new option of Korean returns..

Re: M1 Garands - $375
Noah, I'm aware of CMP, have several garands as it is . Have a bore light and ME gauge to take with me. I just want to see them to see if they are worth it, even if a few parts need replacing (which I may have lying around).
No, CMP will work for you... you just choose not too. If by driving to upper Ohio, you mean to go to CMPs North Store, you still have to have all the requirements to purchase there as you do to mail order one.
You do technically have another option... wait for someone, like myself, who WON'T ass rape you and sell you a properly cleaned/lubed one because I may need to sell one for other purchases."Unus ut caput capitis"

Re: M1 Garands - $375
A question regarding the CMP store. Looking at their website, I believe I meet all requirements, except for the club affiliation. My club is not affiliated with CMP. I believe I can rectify that fairly easily, though.
If I meet all of those requirements, I can just drive to the northern Ohio store and actually pick out my own M1 Garand?
And if so, anyone in my area game for a road trip?

Re: M1 Garands - $375
Need a CMP club? Join the PA Pistol & Rifle Assoc. or better yet, join the Garand Collectors Assoc. (GCA). Both will work. And yes, you can drive up to the North Store and hand select it. You can either pay tax on it and walk out the door with it, or no tax and the cost of shipping to get it home. Difference is like $20-$30 (but then you have to wait like a week and be there for FedEx, etc.)

Re: M1 Garands - $375
I just printed GCA's application out and will mail it today.
I am seeing a beautiful new CMP Garand in my future.
Knight, the GCA costs $25 to join. Why not sign up and take a ride out with me?

Re: M1 Garands - $375
So you can just join the GCA, buy your Garand from CMP, and then don't renew.. kind of as a workaround?
