Take the first step to being Rifleman.

A Rifleman never stops learning, a Rifleman never stops teaching. A Rifleman continues to seek ways to to protect the freedom the Founding Fathers left us, to improve himself, his home and family, his community, his state and his country, everyday of his life. A Rifleman adapts, a Rifleman overcomes and a Rifleman persists. This is not just some fancy gilded rhetoric we throw around like popcorn and pennies. This is the code we live by here. There is nothing wrong, no matter how often the mass of talking heads tells you it is wrong, or outdated, or corny, stupid and cavemanish, with having a code to live by in your life. Modern Americans have forgotten their code. They have forgotten how to be Americans. We are here to help them remember.

The Revolutionary War Veterans Association's Appleseed Project is dedicated to teaching an intense rifle marksmanship and safety course, but the RWVA Appleseed Project is much more than a marksmanship organization and much more than a social organization. It is a direct link back to America's Founding Fathers and instruction about what the duties of a 'Rifleman' are today in America. Find out what it means to be called a 'Rifleman' and what it takes to live a 'Rifleman's Life.'

Price: $70 for both days $45 for one day... if you preregister
walk-on price is $80 for both days or $50 for one
BUT... Active military, Reserve and National Guard, and LEOs attend FREE
Unfortunately, there is now a nonrefundable registration fee for women and under 21, $10 and $5 respectively.

Why should you come?

Well, for one thing, to see what this Appleseed stuff is all about. To find out why one well-known gun writer who was there said, "this is going to be the next big thing that nobody saw coming."

To learn to shoot a rifle — to learn to shoot it just as well as your forefathers.

To hear The Story that every American should hear. About how your forebears took up arms, on the first day of the American Revolution, and did things no other people in the world have ever done. To learn things you don't learn in school, about that day. About where the Revolution really started — it did not start in Lexington, nor did it start in Concord. According to John Adams, it was over before it started. Be there to hear The Story, because to hear it is to remember what they did that day. And to remember, is to honor them for doing it.

To gather new hope for the future. To see Americans — volunteer Americans — not sitting around complaining - no sir, out doing something about it — like saving their country, one person at a time.

To meet fellow Americans who feel like you do, and to bathe in an association with real Americans that is lacking in your everyday life. So you'll go back home rejuvenated - and maybe with hope for the future, for the first time in years.

To qualify to purchase an M1 Garand — still one of the world's finest battle rifles — and a true piece of American history... direct from the Civilian Marksmanship Program for a price several hundred dollars under market.

Last year I did my first Appleseed and plan to do more this year. It is a great way to hone your rifle skills out to 400yards. It is also a wonderful lesson in American History.

Bring any rifle, though a .22 is most cost effective. For older folks (like me) a scope can be a huge help. It is not about the gear. It is about learning how to shoot in the 3 basic field positions; off-hand/standing, sitting or kneeling and prone.

I attended one at Halstead,PA and I am surprised to see no events listed there for this year. Manheim is likely the next closest for me and they seem to have them every month.

Absolutely one of the best programs for beginners and experts. Fundamentals are what they cover. Fundamentals of shooting and fundamentals of our history and Heritage.
A benefit to anyone of any experience level.

Patriots Day weekend is a big weekend for Appleseeders. It SHOULD be a big weekend for all Americans.

This weekend April 17-18, there will be 98(!) shoots from Maine to California with almost 3,000 people on the line.

That's 3,000 of the kind of folks that maybe you were afraid didn't exist anymore... but, they do!

Sorry, the shoot just over our western border in Athens, OH is SOLD OUT. So is the one to our east in Winslow, NJ. Unfortunately you're too late to attend the shoot in Manheim, PA as well. The GOOD news is that there is still room on the line in Allemans, PA and Chambersburg, PA.

If anyone is attending the Appleseed event this weekend at Manheim (May 15 and 16), I look forward to meeting you. I'll be the one with a 10/22 and Mosin, along with my father and his M1 Carbine. It'll be my first Appleseed, and I'm really quite thrilled to be going!

I'm hoping that in the future, perhaps an event can be held somewhere near the Lehigh Valley.

Followup on the Manheim, PA Appleseed of May 15 and 16th:

Excellent weekend. My shooting skills improved to the point where they could actually be called 'skills'. At the last AQT on Sunday, I managed to earn the Rifleman patch...WOO HOO! Went through about 600 rounds in my 10/22 over the two days. Saturday, I took my father with me. He was shooting an M1 Carbine. Being not-so-young, and wearing glasses that are more suited to working on a desk, he really struggled with the prone position, and by end of day, was ready to go home. But, his shooting also improved, so he was happy.

If you have the chance to attend an Appleseed event, DO IT. Not only will your skills improve, but you will meet some really decent people.
