Anyone else hate finger grooves on pistols?
I'm talking about the kind built into the grip. I have kind of big hands so they almost never sit right for me.
I'm trying to see what the benefits are vs having nice some aggressive front strap?
Anyone actually prefer these (say over stippling or an aggressive front strap?)Care to share why?

I love them, they fit my hand fine. Prefer the way they feel.

Absolutely hate 'em. None of my guns have 'em, not even the Glock 17. It's a model before they started adding the finger grooves. Hating the finger grooves on the new Glocks is partly what steered me to S&W instead for my first gun.

Re: Anyone else hate finger grooves on pistols?
I have medium sized hands and when the grooves fit, it's OK. I'm thinking in terms of certain S&W "Combat Fingergroove" revolver grips that are no longer made.
I'd rather have no grooves than misplaced grooves. If the finger grooves don't fit, the gun doesn't get bought.
Example: Pachy rubber grips for auto pistols with a frontstrap insert. Haven't handled a set yet that fit. Also Hogue rubber grips for S&W revolvers. Those are way too slim from side to side, and the grooves aren't in the right places for my fingers.
Again, if it don't fit, I don't buy.
I can only imagine the problems that Pennsyplinker has with fingergroove grips . . .

Depends on the gun and the grooves. Same with knife handles. It either feels good or it doesn't.

Re: Anyone else hate finger grooves on pistols?
I was just asking because I really wanted a glock (reliability, mag compat with a sub2k, ease of use...my wife can rack the slide.
So I took a sanding drum to my glock 19 this morning and sanded the finger grooves off and I'm in the process of stippling the grip now.

Re: Anyone else hate finger grooves on pistols?
I'll be hitting the frame just in front of the takedown lever too...need some extra grip for my thumb to rest there and skateboard tape keeps it from going in the holster.
Since I dont have the funds to add forward cocking serrations (i cant do those myself) I just slapped some grip on the slide for now.
