I've been thinking while reading those replies... is there any chance of flying glass hitting the child still inside the car when/if you break it?

    I firmly believe either.

    1. people are purposely writting nasty things to show how much of an ass they can be

    or

    2. they are ignorant.

The car was the safest place to be!

Being outside is far more dangerous.

No need to break a window and...

It wouldn't be covered under any insurance policy because you did it on purpose

All the spydie sense ninja people need to stfu.

You did what any normal emotionally and mentaly stable person should do.

I'm assuming you pulled over in a safe location like any normal mentaly and emotionally stable person would assume.

breaking the glass wouldn't harm people first it's safety glass second you wounldny do it near the child

It happens to civilians, cops, etc ... people are stupid enough to hit parked cars all the time.

WOW! People hit parked cars? omg thanks for the newsbulletin! People get killed when standing by their cars too! Guess what? being in the car while secured by a seat belt is far safer than being hit outside the car. Amazing!!!

you can also run out one of your license plate bolts, put a spare valet key behind the plate, then run the screw in again.....but i guess you didnt have a screwdriver either

Standing off to the side as far from the road makes you much less likely to be hit and is, therefore, safer in my opinion then being strapped inside a non-moving hunk of metal. If your little "space" in the car is crushed that seat belt isn't going to do a damn thing.

It's also not a smart idea to stand right next to the car because if it is hit, then you're in the immediate path of a ton of fast-moving metal.

Have fun jumping over the jersey walls, scaling sound walls and bridges and walls of snow on 422/76/276/476 with a little girl.

Wink Re: Interaction with state policeman

How dare you call yourself a respectable poster on this forum if you even dared to answer a question to that LEO after he inquired about your LTCF.... never mind that he stopped to help you.... no tape recorder, no lawyer, no talkie..... you're supposed to tick him off, shove a digital recorder in his face and offer to explain PA gun law to him using your copy of the pamphlet which you also shoved in his face.....

Then ask him to please help you get into your car, help your companion with her asthma attack, and keep you from getting run over. It would have worked out so much better if you just had followed the official protocol and improved our rights to carry, as well as our relationships with the LEO community....

I hope you read the sarcasm between the lines....

Have fun when the emergency crews take 2 hours just to get you out of a crushed car.

A little common sense goes a long way here.

    1. The girl is in the car.

    2. The girl is statistically much much safer than the parents standing outside the car.

    3. The likelihood of his parked car in a relatively safe spot, since he wouldn't park it in an unsafe spot to change drivers, being hit by anyone is slim to none.

    4. You do what you want, he'll do what he thinks best.

I agree with his assessment. If he broke the window to get in, I'd be fine with that too. its his window. Going by the numbers either way would be safe and prudent. If it wasn't the trooper would have broken the window himself to save a child. (I hope he would at least)
