Re: Banks with metal detectors
I'm not surprised that somebody here knows the answer to that. One thing I noticed about Naples is that a lot of the buildings including the one I lived in were fortresses. They all had glass topped walls and automatic driveway doors. My door was steel, in a steel frame and with, I think, 6 bolts that entered the frame top, bottom, and side. It had the best physical security of any place I ever lived.
Despite that, most Americans seemed to get robbed just before they were ready to get transferred home. I think it was completely business-like. They knew when you came and when you would leave. They waited for you to buy a lot of stuff and then they came and cleaned you out. Just like picking cabbages.
I didn't have any good stuff but they went through my shipment and picked out what they wanted. It didn't amount to much but I did lose an heirloom lamp which was the only thing that I had that belonged to my late grandmother.

Re: Banks with metal detectors
I would not put much concern in any metal detector bullshit for banks. Metal detectors detect metal, not firearms or explosives. The amount of inconvenience afforded the general public and bank staff would be horrendous if metal detectors were active in the entrance. I have a hard time believing that the metal detectors would be used due to the problems encountered.
There is little reason today to walk into a bank anyway. I (as do most of you) have more important things to do then to walk into any branch bank. With online banking, full service ATM's, direct deposit and the like wasting ones time walking into a bank is not necessary. I cannot remember the last time I walked into a bank to do business, I would rather go shooting.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Because there are metal detectors doesn't mean you can bring your firearm.

Kodiak,
My Bank has ' Double Doors ' .. one won't open until the other closes .. however, they have no signs saying " No Weapons ", so I just walk in CC.
I doubt they want to have the embarrassment of the alarms and cops only to find out your perfectly legal, and then risk the possibility of you suing them.
I don't follow this stuff too much and perhaps I've missed the negative experiences of others ... I'd hope the Bank realizes just who butters their bread.

Re: Banks with metal detectors
I have not been in their since they have installed the double doors and all. Im up on Academy, so the one in the Acme up here is my branch. My pops does all his banking at the one on frankford. The place has been been robbed a few times in the past few years, but treating everyone that comes in like a criminal is not the way to handle it.

Any business that captures you and holds you without a damned good reason, is liable for false imprisonment, and maybe kidnapping.

Re: Banks with metal detectors
Your talking of the double door system?
You can't open one door, till the other one is closed, thus "trapping" you for a short period of time.
That is an intresting view of it. . . .
I may have to swing by the bank today to see what the "wait" time in the double door system is. .
