West York Sporting Goods.......Yuck
Today I met up with a member (cowentz, good guy) to transfer his Kel Tec P32 to me. His lucky ass got a Kahr so the P32 had to go. I've been talking about a little pocket pistol for awhile so it seemed like a good fit. I drove from the Harrisburg area to York to meet him. We intended to met at Stubby Gear, a place he had good experience with and that did transfers for $20. Sounded good to me. They were closed when I showed up so he found us another place in West York called West York Sporting Goods. The transfer cost $45 and took an hour. The guy running the show stopped the process every five minutes to do something totally unrelated and the computer he was using appeared to be from 1989. Not pretty. He also attempted to teach one of his employees how to do a transfer... That didn't help our cause. The employee kept getting yelled at for not waiting for the "hour glassy thingy" to stop spinning. We finally left an hour and change later and on our way out cowentz told me how that was the longest he'd ever waited. I agreed. The $45 price tag wasn't so great either. And to top it all off I was almost home and the guy from the shop calls to tell me I left my ID there.
I really can't say much else about the place. It was dirty. They have an indoor range and rent guns, and they had a few (35?) pistols for sale. The most interesting part of the place was that they sell Nighthawk 1911s and also rent one of the cheaper models. Aside from that though I was not impressed.Last edited by rwb1500; February 28th, 2010 at 05:19 AM.

He is a strange dude. That place could be a gold mine but not with him running it.

You should have went around the corner, paid $7 entry fee, and do the transfer at Stubby's booth at the gun show......

That's funny but it sounds like something he would do. I don't think he's a bad person just that he may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I wish I could have saved you some hassle. I was just in there ten days ago.
