Default First time bringing the gf and the 1911 to the range!

Stripped her down today and gave her a good cleaning. Nice machine work, no abnormal wearing, nice rifling, no burrs inside, still nice and lubed up even.

Then took the llama and the gf to the range. It was both of their first times at the range with me. Both performed flawlessly for a box of 50 fmj's! I will admit that she looks way better In my desert camo AND fondling my pieces than me, I think you guys would agree.

Lucky you a gf that likes to handle your piece and shoot guns too.
Now if only my wife would be like that.

Cool Re: First time bringing the gf and the 1911 to the range!

It's good to see Hes and Shes enjoying guns...that are not pointed at each other. I would ask you to coution her about her thumb position, in the first pic. If you have or get a glock she may never shoot again. I had to councel my wife on this same issue. She grew up shooting revolvers.

PS: If you are not shure about the thumb thing, both go on the same side of the grip.

Keep safe, may be I'll see you kids out there!

I'm getting old because the first thing I noticed was her stance. She should be leaning forward to absorb the recoil rather than leaning away from the pistol. Also she's gonna get her thumb bit if she doesn't tuck it in along side the pistol. Also, just one finger on the trigger.

    why is that?
seems most times a female is piced, she is leaning way back.

My mom shoots leaning back but with her eyes closed and I've never seen her miss once in my life. Plus it is an actual shooting stance used in offhand rifle shooting competition

Are you talking about the guns or........ah fuck it, thats too easy even for me

Seriously though, I have two observations. First, as I have seen pictures of you and now your girlfriend, the phrase "out-kicked your coverage" comes to mind. You must be rich or something! Second, why the christ aren't you sitting on a beach somewhere drinking banana daquiris on spring break!?!?

As for the guns, they are nice but I was always partial to the hi-point

Be glad you posted 10 minutes ago or I would've gotten to that joke first.

Definately a good sign there isn't any burrs in it!

There's a difference between shooting for accuracy and "using" a handgun. They are leaning back to put their elbow on their hip to have bone-bone contact for shooting accurately.

Leaning forward with a handgun will allow for quicker follow up shots. Does that matter for a range trip like this? Probably not. It will reduce felt recoil and might make it more enjoyable for the shooter, but that would mean having to buy twice the ammo in the future
