    Default Transporting an AR15/M4

I may be purchasing an AR15/M4 rifle while in southern Georgia for training. I currently live in Philadelphia and was wondering if I would have any issues driving home with the weapon in the car. I do have a CCW through PA but I know that applies to handguns. Does SC, NC, Virgina, MD have any laws regarding transportation or rifles from state to state.

Also there will be no ammunition.....just the rifle and case.

You follow the FOPA rules. ....unloaded, gun in locked case, case in trunk, ammo separate.

You may follow a state's laws if they are less strict than the federal protections. MD may be the only one of concern, I'm not totally up to speed with their laws. The other ones you listed wont be a problem at all.

As long as it is unloaded, locked in a case, the ammo in a separate case, everything in an area that would be relatively inaccessible, you will be fine.

I would suggest that you treat MD as "fork over" country. No stops, obey the speed laws etc.
