New LTCF
On Wednesday morning I paid a visit to the Allegheny Sheriffs Firearms Office and submitted by application for a LTCF. They checked by visa, I-94, utility bills, ID and took my photo. They then asked me to take a seat whilst they took care of me...
I could hear a voice in the back of the office make a call "I need a check on a Mr Thompson"... In the mean time other people were coming in, dropping of their forms, getting photos taken, writting their address on yellow postcards and leaving. Hmm... I guess as a non-immigrant alien they wanted to make sure I was legal whilst there in case they had to whisk me off to the airport
Anyhow, after a few minutes I hear the voice at the back say "Mr Thompson is free to go". I filled in the yellow postcard and with a "have a nice day" I was on my way.
On the whole, the process was fast and efficient, and my slightly more unusual application didn't pose any issues for them. I didn't notice anyone who was collecting their LTCF's being given any additional papers or "pep-talk".
In this mornings mail was a yellow postcard with some familiar handwriting on the front. My application was approved. I have 30 days to go fetch my LTCF, Monday to Friday 8am to 3:30pm. I suspect I'll be there Monday morningLast edited by R.Thompson; February 27th, 2010 at 12:46 PM.

Re: New LCTF
It would be better if they would process you on the spot instead of making you wait for a post card.

Re: New LCTF
Definately. When they told me to take a seat whilst they take care of me I wondered if the Sheriff had had a change of heart about the process, but alas it was not to be.
But three days is definately better than some of the horror stories I've heard here of sheriffs taking the entire 45 days and then some.[IANAL]It's not about guns, its about effective self defense.

Glad you got it so quick, you could show those deputies a thing or two about firearms.
for anyone who doesn't know, this man shoots IPSC at least once a week and knows how to handle a firearm better than most. ohh and i forgot to mention HE'S BRITISH!! and loves his 2nd amendment rights!Last edited by renegadephoenix; February 27th, 2010 at 02:30 PM.

Does my heart good to see a RA living the full dream. CONGRATS.
