Reloading for an 1895 Nagant Revolver (7.62x38R)
Does anyone have any experience loading for this caliber? The bullets are very expensive and reloading seems to be the way to go.... except I can't find load data in any of my books for this caliber.
Via google searches, I have found that 7.62x38R die sets are available, but they don't seat deep enough and brass is hard to come by. Many, it seems, are using 32-20 brass, a 30 carbine resizer, and then modifying the 7.62x38R seating plug to seat deeper. Does anyone have any experience loading this round?
I'd like to know:
1. What type of brass do you use?
2. What type of/combination of dies do you use?
3. What bullets you use?
4. Where you get your load data from (powder choice, powder charge, etc.)
5. What is the OAL of the final completed cartridge? Do you seat the bullets until the tip is flush with the case mouth? Deeper?
Thanks.

max384,
fwiw, here's how i do it:
i use .30 carbine dies to load my m1895. i seat 90-100 gr swaged/cast bullets below the the cylinder face over 4.0 gr of ww231 (from lyman .32-20 data). a max load for .32-20 handgun, but mild from my nagant.
nifty and unusual revolver and so russian. the trigger is atrocious, but if i do my job, the gun hits what it's pointed at.
i hope this helps,

max384,
i use virgin .32-20 brass; the bullets are .314" hornady 90 grainers, .314" magtech 98's and my own cast 100's sized to .314".
it's no target model, but if i do my job, it hits what i aim at.
