Default Some thing for the ladies

So I need to find a good lady shotgun, keep in mind the person who will own this hasn't shot a long gun before and is of a smaller frame. I would need something thats like a 20 gauge, nice and light, and semi auto to soak up some of the recoil. Price isn't a HUGE issue, but under 500$ would be best. Is there such a Shotgun?

If the recoil is a real problem then a youth model with a recoil pad might be the answer. Scroll down for shotguns.

if 500 is your limit you can rule out most semi's a unless you find a used one.my wife who is a small person ues's a FN slp in 12ga and loves it.but thats way over your limit.for a semi the best bet may be a saiga in 12 ga with lite loads your wife should have no problem with it.and with the low recoil buk loads out there it should be no problem and there around 500 you could look into a mossy 590 also I've heard they work good and are great for the price.with practice and good training your should have no problem with a 12ga.hope this helps.crazywolf.also here is a pic of my wife rocking and rolling with her FN.

How freakin' psychotic, I was just going to post this very same subject and almost the same particulars

To be more specific in my case... My wife is 5 feet even, 110#, and grew up in a back brace until she was 14 because of the curved spine. Which was not surgically corrected, either.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

When I was working 2nd shift I wanted my lovely wife to have something she was proficient with other than Walther P22 she uses at the range, just in case something goes "bump" in the night. She is a little thing at barely 5'3" and 115lbs and my pistols/long guns are a bit much for her, (10mm;.357sig, compact .45acp; AR; 12ga)

I did some research and bought her a Mossberg 500 HS, (Home Security) .410 for around $300 and this thing is sweeeet!! At close range a .410 has a blast equal to or greater than a .357 Magnum and there are currently all kinds of great defense loads for the .410 with the Taurus Judge on the market.

She has shot it a couple of times and really does well with it and recoil has yet to bother her with it. Heck, I even love to shoot this thing!! Really draws up great and has the smoothest action of any Mossberg I have ever tried!!

    Check it out!

this is interesting as my girlfriend just decided since she has a rifle and a pistol its time for a shotgun. she is looking at either a pump or a side by side 20 she really like the stoeger coach gun in 20 or a mossberg youth pump so we are looking around for when she is ready to buy i was wondering if anyone had any other ideas too. i hate semi auto shotguns and she doesn't really care for them either so she would like to stick to side by side or pump.

Seriously guys, check this link out, about 6 paragraphs down where it starts out "As women and older children could be using this home defense shotgun", then read on about good 410 choices.

You might want to look into a 28ga. Remington has a nice 870 (pump) and the Browning BPS is nice. The 28 gives you a lot more power over the .410 with a lot less kick than a 20 ga. The one trouble with getting a 28ga for the wife is that you will want to shoot it. They are nice.

A friend of mine has a Winchester 1300 Youth 20 gauge pump shotgun for sale. It should be good for the ladies. He is asking $250.00 for it. PM me if you are interested.
