    Default Obtaining Pistol Permit in PA?

    Hello, I just moved to PA about a year ago.

    How tough is it to get a pistol permit in PA? I have lived in NY all my life and found it difficult, seeing that they frown on that type of thing in the city.

    My record is spotless and I have taken all the firearms classes I can think of. I even took a college class up at CCC Called Basic Firearms and one called Advanced firearms.

    What else would I need to do to get this process started?

    Forget everything about NY......

    Pa. does not require permits to purchase guns.

    If you want to carry, go to your Co. Sheriff's office, and apply for a LTCF.

    A PA License to Carry Firearms (LTCF) is relatively easy to obtain. You need to go to the Sheriff's office and fill out the application. Many have the application on-line that can be downloaded and filled out before hand. They will run a background check and then issue the LTCF. Most sheriffs work this way, as per PA law. However, some will add some hoops that need to be jumped though, like Montgomery's PD check card, or Philadelphia requiring reference's to fill out a form. Statute says that have 45 days to issue or deny the application, most cases it is issued at the time of application, but again some will go slow, sometimes to the point of claiming they have 45 "working" days.

    I am not sure if Tioga is one that abuses the issue, but I don't believe it is one that has an issue.

    No such thing as a pistol permit in PA, we're not in occupied territory. If you want a pistol you can go to your nearest gun store and buy one.

    If you want to carry concealed (along with some other benefits) go to your local sheriffs office and apply for an LTCF.

    If your record is clean, as you say, then you should have no problem obtaining either.

    Welcome to free land!

    Here is where you go... Tioga Sheriff

    You'll find address, phone number, and hours...as well as the application...and he only charges $25

    From where you are coming from...guarantee when you get your PA LTCF you will say..."That's it?"...

    Here's what's involved in purchasing a pistol in PA.

    1. Go to a gun shop.
    2. Fondle... err... pick out the pistol you want to buy.
    3. Fill out paperwork and pass the PICS background check.
    4. Pay for your gun.
    5. Walk out of the store with your new pistol.

    Remember... here in PA we have a License To Carry Firearms (LTCF). Nowhere on the license does it have the word conceal. You are not required to conceal. Open carry is an option if you so choose.

    Enjoy living in PA. You've crossed the border into freedom.

    At least, that's how the tories and tyrants would have you believe it.

    How does that claim stack up against:
    The General Assembly that persists in passing unconstitutional laws like the UFA;
    The PSP who keeps a sales database contrary to law (apparently not just contrary to 6111.4 but also regarding record-of-sale form retention elsewhere near 6111);
    the municipal police who will stop you for openly carrying a firearm and demand a 'permit', and then bitch about how your gun isn't 'registered' in the 'database', who sometimes also confiscate a firearm and never return it even though they have no lawful reason to retain it;
    the judges who uphold LTCF denials and revocations without backing by law, or who order the confiscation of firearms and barring of rights prior to a conviction?

    You may also carry openly (not concealed) even without the license.
    Everyone should have an AK-47

    Open carry in Tioga county is not an issue. I do it all the time. I have never had an LEO brace me for it. NEVER! Last I heard getting a LTCF in Tioga was a one stop shop. Your out the door with your LTCF in 15 min.

    Download it fill it out except for the signature and sign it in front of the deputy. Pay your money, they like cash. She will get you in another room a take your picture. Then the printer spits it out. As far as buying a pistol, If you have your PA drivers licence, go to the gun store of your choice, pick one out. fill out two forms the FFL will run you in PICS . pay the man your on your way out the door. It shouldn't be over 20 min. unless they are busy. You DO NOT need a LTCF to buy a pistol. You do need to be 21.
