Re: Gun stolen by Hawley PD.!
Not just illegally holding the gun, but it was illegally confiscated as well. The absence of evidence that the gun belongs to you is not evidence that it is stolen.
This is why i must say once again: unless they're about to give you a pat down, NEVER TELL POLICE YOU HAVE A WEAPON. If he said "officer, there's nothing illegal in my car. am i free to go?" there's a strong possibility that there would be no problem. Why people continue to volunteer unnecessary information to the police is beyond me.Last edited by MarcS; September 1st, 2007 at 11:55 PM.

GET A LAWYER !!
SUE THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT FOR RETURN OF PROPERTY AND LEGAL FEES.
HAVE YOUR LAWYER THREATEN TO FILE CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST THE INDIVIDUAL AND DEPARTMENT. FOLLOW UP IF NECESSARY.

Re: Gun stolen by Hawley PD.!
Wow. Just wow.
Why did the original poster let it go so long before getting a lawyer?
The Hawley PD needs to be sued for criminal wrong doing and civil damages.
What the hell is happening to this state?
What ever happened to "Pennsylvania...America starts here"?

Re: Gun stolen by Hawley PD.!
Yeah I would absolutely sue the hell outta them, and make sure I include not only the return of my firearm, but also my legal fees, new ltcf fees (since they lost it) and a WRITTEN apology from the Sheriff.
