Default Meister 175 gr. SWC 40 cal. replacement

I've been using the .40 cal. 175 meister SWC in my Browning Hi-power for years. Their price has gone through the roof. Does anyone know of a replacement that I could use that is more economical. I'd prefer the same weight and style. I'm hoping to find something that will perform just as good. I just can't see spending $100.00/1000 for cast bullets.

    Thanks for your help,
    Fred

The 170 is a posibility, but I would really like to stick with a 175 SWC. Anyone know of a source for cheap cast bullets?

    Make your own!

This is the cheapest you are going to find. Start scrounging tire shops and hanging around the backstop of your local range. You will need to outlay some cash for the Pot and mold, but if you can get free wheel weights, you are set.

I have no interest in casting. I have two small girls and I barely find time to reload and shoot let alone spend hours smelting lead.

    You might try these guys:

They have 175gr SWCBB for <$80 @ 1,000. They are pleasant and prompt to deal with, and the lady that will answer the phone has a cool accent. You need to buy a lot to offset the shipping.

If you only want a few hundred then I'd try Kings Shooting Supply in King of Prussia. Roger is a great guy and has good bullets at a fair price and is at most Eastern and Central Pa gun shows.

Thanks Rundownfid, Tennessee bulletworks looks like an excellent find. I like the fact that they will size the bullets to your specs. I may have to slug my barrel.
