I got this last week. Romanian WASR 10. Sixty rounds so far. Shoots a tad high (6-8 inches) at 100 yards with the rear sight in battle position. I'm going to move it to the 100 meter position today which I hope will fix that. Haven't touched the front sight. My eyes aren't so good and I get a blurry sight picture so there's probably a scope in the future.

Just picked up my first Galil. Ace in 5.45, but have not taken it to the range yet, but will update when I do. I second a WASR. Generally good value and solid rifle.

Anyone have a suggestion for a 5.56 AK?

I already have a Norinco, Saiga, Beryl, Zpap85 and Galil clone (Gallant) really miss my Arsenal but they are way to overpriced now. Was thinking maybe a Pioneer or WBP

If you already have those, you're beyond covered. The Beryl is the only 5.56 AK I would personally buy. Buy another one. If you're dying for more variety, probably the WBP. Everything I've reads says stay away from Pioneer.

I know. My biggest regret was selling mine when I needed money.
What a waste. It would cost me 5x what I paid for it to buy another one now.
I have old guy syndrome - I can't bring myself pay $800 for a rifle I once paid $150 for.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

That is true. I could always get the mini Beryl too. Hmm. I*ve heard the newer Pioneers with the forged trunnions are much better, but don*t know for a fact. Most I*ve heard before that was bad news.

I love the 5.56 Saiga. The Galil clone is a JRA Gallant and that started off as a bad situation. They took too much off the rear trunnion where the bullet guide is so it was so low it would not cycle a single round. Sent it back and they had to send an entirely new rifle bc they damaged it trying to fix it. The plus side, their customer service was GREAT. They made everything right and now it functions perfect.

Maybe it*s time to explore some other rifle options. Have to see what*s out there.

I hear you on the blurry sights, a little bit high at 100 sounds right for the battle setting. Hit a man out to 300. You don't need a scope, spray and pray.
