Default Savage .308 Good, bad or inbetween

I have been looking at bolt action .308s. Savage makes an all weather SS synthetic stock. Anyone that owns a Savage .308 please let me know how you like it. reliable? accurate? They are affordable and I really do like that particular model. Thanks for any input. das

Scroll through old post. No sense in posting a new thread over the same topics over and over.

Savages are good...easy to work on if you want to swap barrels/calibers. Factory rifles are good, but you can make them great. What else needs to be said?

I intend to pick up my first major cal. bolt action soon and it will be a Savage in .308 left handed.

The accu trigger and accu stock systems and the way the recievers are manufactered make the Savage one of the most accurate out of the box production rifles you can buy.

    And they are quality also.

You can't go wrong with a new Savage.

I have a pre-accu trigger 10FP, with a Leupold Vari-X II 4-12x40/ Brownells picatinny base/rings. All day long sub MOA accuracy with several handloads. The triggers a little heavy, but I didn't bother working on it because im satisfiesd with it as is. By far my favorite bolt action im my collection.

I have a savage 10fcp with an HS Precision stock. It shot .75" on factory match loads. With handloads I should be around .50 or smaller. I would recommend them to anyone.

My only hands on experience is with a friends. Savage .308, accu-trigger, with a 3-9x Nikon Buck Master scope.

It's an incredibly light and accurate rifle with a beautiful trigger. I really liked it!

He's since upgraded the glass and I have yet to shoot it again.

My friend has the 10fcp... it is a beautiful gun. Easily shooting .5" at 200yds... we were cutting the same hole most of the time. It took me a little time to get used to the Accutrigger, but after that.. it's like butter.
