Default M14 magazine sources & quality -- experience & observations sought

I'm considering buying a few more M14 mags.

    >This< and >this< pretty much sums up what I know about them so far.

Here's what I've found so far:

    • $275 for a 10 pack ($27.50 ea), Midwest (link)
    • (FSBO onesie) (link)
    • CMI, $20.49, sold by 44mag.com (this one looks really promising - link)
    • CMI, US Tactical, $30, (link)
    • Checkmate sold by Midwest, $25 ea (link)
    • "American Magazine", $25, sold by Gun Clip Depot (link)
    • Taiwanese T57 mags, $17 ea, sold by keepshooting.com (This one looks good, we gave our M14 tool & dies to Taiwan - Link)

Any magazines or vendors preferred, or to avoid?

    Thx!

CMI is Check Mate Industries and the last I heard is the only U.S. military contracted m14 mag. manufacterer.

.44mag has the best prices on CMI mags that I have found.
And these are the only m1a/m14 mags I buy anymore.
    Best by far of any new production. { in my opinion of course!}

Taiwain type57 are good, but older surplus, for 3 bucks you are better off with brand new CMI.
Korean are junk, many complaints of spot welds coming apart.

Watch out for claims of 'mil-spec'.

    CMI is mil-spec.

Gator39 has it right, CMI all the way. And ONLY CMI. They are the current USGI manufacturer - supplier.

.44Mag offers a good deal on them.

I've tried a few including from various Asian sources but basically they were crap for one reason or another. At this point I would not even consider anything other than CMI. I must have about 30 of them including a few from early runs with no markings that came in the blue bags and never ever had any issues.

Spend the extra pennies and go with CMI.

And yes, CMI is Check Mate Industries and is USGI.

And trust anything on the subject by Lee Emerson. He helped me build mine. Lee is insane in his knowledge and research as you can see from your 2nd link.

Magpul Pmags are arguably the best.

Brownells has them all in stock and if you buy through them off the link in the advertising banner PAFOA gets a percentage of the sales.

    $13.99 for the black. ... 20 round

They are a good deal if you are looking for AR-15/M16 mags, but this thread is about M14 mags. And yes 44mag has about the best deal on M14 mags.

I'm a little bit late with this feedback, but here goes:

-I bought 10 of the CMI M14 mags from 44Mag, no complaints, the mags were pristine.

-I bought AK and AR180 stuff from MI. Totally satisfied in my dealings with them.

-I just ordered some items from Keepshooting this morning, paid the cheapest UPS delivery, got notice via email this afternoon that the package would be delivered tomorrow (I did not pay extra for overnight).

Can't comment on the others, hope this helps.
