I need recommendations for a gun safe to take on the plane.
Flying into Phoneix, AZ, driving to CO, and flying out of Denver CO; with a gun. Harrisburg airport is my origin. I have a UT, FL, and PA permits. Only state I will not be legal is NV but I'm not stopping until I get to UT. I have never taken my gun on a plane before so I need a gun safe. I know I keep the key and I'm the only that can open it so it can't be a TSA lock box. I'm also concerned about CO and their new strict gun laws. I'll be taking a Ruger LCP and Sig Sauer P239 with me. They're 7 rounds so I should be fine. Thoughts/opinions? I need a good gun box for my flight and any additional info on CO.
Thanks

You don't need a "safe" just a lockable box. Also, put the box in a non-descript zippered, opaque bag also locked.
I have done it many times with no issues. You must DECLARE the firearm at the baggage area when you check your bags. Read the airline's rules and regs for checking firearms.

Any $20 pistol vault will be fine. I loop the cable around hardware inside the suitcase so someone would have to work a little bit to take it.

And make sure you declare it at check in.

Check with your airline for anything special that they might require or allow.
When I flew out to Utah a few months ago, I just put both my guns in a single glock case and I put a pad lock on it. That case then went in my clothes bag. (some airlines will charge u extra or only allow a single case for the firearms, check the airline)
When you check in, you can't do curbside, you need to take it to the counter and check it in and declare the firearm. You will fill out a card and sign it. They prob won't ask to see anything. I also had 200 rounds of ammo in my bag in the blue plastic cases. They didn't weigh the ammo.
I asked if they wanted to weigh or confirm the gun was empty. The lady said, that is why you are signing the card, stating that it is empty. They then personally took my bag straight to TSA.
The Orange/red card goes inside your bag, but not in the gun container, unless it is like a rifle or bow case, then you put it inside.. Your bag that the guns are in doesn't need to be locked, but it is prob a good idea.
On my way home, I did have some troubles when they found my case gauge in my carry on and they had to get a manager to determine if it was a gun part or not.
Don't feel like you are the only one, or a rare thing for them to see. Especially into Co. When I flew out in Sept, There were a bunch of hunters traveling and competition shooters.
Make sure there are no stray bullets, rounds or empty cases in your pockets which could cause to get a free health examine. The problem with shooting Chinese bullets is 15 minutes later you wanna shoot again.

Just keep an eye on it. You don't want it to jump out of the case and start randomly shooting people.

Firearms are legal in most airports,OC, CC, but not past the security checkpoint.
