Dillon 650 reloading 40
SO i got a dillon 650 and about to start reloading 40SW. I have the dillon die and i hear that the resizing die does not resize the case all the way down to the head. This is a issue mostly with once-fired brass from a glock with a factory barrel, bc of the pressures in the barrel it cause the case to expand alot.
So my question is, which resizing die does resize all the way down, should i just change my barrel to an upgraded after-market version?
Note: Before ppl ask, Yes this is the first time reloading, and i hear that i shouldn't start with a dillon, but i am a firm believer of "buy once, cry once" so i wanted the best. Also i do have reloading books and resources, so even though this is my first time, i'm no idiot. I do my research.

If you are looking for less case expand. out of your glock you are going to have to change the barrel. No dies will size the whole case. The only way to size the whole case is to roller size it!! As far as starting with a dillon good for you!! I wish I did !! Good luck with the 650 I have a 550 and love it. To quote another menber "Welcome to the dark side of reloading"!!

Re: Dillon 650 reloading 40
I've never used the Dillon dies. I use Lee, RCBS, and Redding dies on my 650, but I've always been able to resize glock-fired brass without any problems. Just screw your die down all the way until it touches the shell plate and then back it off just a hair. This will resize your case all except about a millimeter above the base, which is the thickest part of the case wall anyhow.

Get a Lee U die from Evolution Gun Works and problem is solved.
Dillon dies never sized deep enough for me.

You may also want to consider a Redding GRx die which sizes the entire .40 S&W case. However that would be a separate operation from your normal reloading process.

I'm with Lycanthrope. Since you are using a progressive press, you would be best served with the EGW undersized die.

No standard Die sizes all the way to the base. Most will size about a ¼ inch up from the base. This includes rifle dies. The base is the hardened part of the case. If you look in side of a case the brass is actually thicker there. For true full length sizing you need to use something like the G-RX Die or something similar.
