April Grill & Chill - Who's bringin what

I'll check into getting some apple......

It has to be seasoned long enough to be good & dry to give the best flavor. Something that was cut last year should be good, especially if it was cut in the spring. Some nurseries chip their trimmings right away, that'd be the way to get it. I keep wanting to go to Honeybear or Seyfert Orchard to get some and I never seem to get it done.

You're too straight to the point Fingers, I've been typing a reply to answer that question for almost a half hour. (The damn phone keeps ringing and I'm dumb enough to answer it.)

We haven't posted it in the "Events" forum yet, that'll be coming soon.
It was only this past Sunday, at our impromptu Saturday gathering that we think we settled on a date. It looks like it will be April 24, everyone who talked about it seems to agree that the 24 will be best. Unless someone comes up with a convincing argument to the contrary, that'll be it.

It started out with the purchase of a cheap Mosin-Nagant and someone wanting to know if anyone else was going to be at the range on Saturday. Not only did a few of us go out to shoot on Saturday, it evolved into a cookout event on Sunday. The real irony of it is that the Mosin-Nagant didn't even make it to the range! That's just the way we roll around here.

We will also be having a club event on Sunday, March 21. It's a block shoot. (Some would call it a card shoot, no blocks will be harmed in the course of this shoot.)

We have one unopened pack of John F. Martin hot dogs, about ½# of Groff's smoked sausage and about 1½# of Morrissey's smoked sausage leftover from Sunday. I can get more if anyone thinks it's necessary.
There's a bottle of Ketchup and a bottle of yellow mustard there too.
Here's the grill I'm going to borrow from my neighbor:

He told me that 2 big bags of charcoal should keep us cookin' all day. (I think a big bag is 20#.) There's a smokebox on the left side of it if we want to add some smoke for flavor. I have some cherry wood as well as some mesquite, hickory and alder chips for smoke. I'm really partial to apple or pear wood for smoke but I'm fresh out of those.
As usual, I'll supply a cutting board, knives and a buffet warmer.

I invited him to the turkey fry and the fish fry but he didn't come out. We used his fryer, we're going to use his grill, he hauled my snowblower out to the range and back for me, he deserves at least a meal for the favors. I do use my snowblower to keep his sidewalk and driveway clear when it needs it and we help each other with stuff all the time, but you're right he really needs to come out and have a good time with us.
