    Default Situational Awareness lesson

OK hold on I get you through this. My wifes stepmothers, son in law was robbed at gun point this week. He was at Dennys on bus rt1 in Pendell Pa His wife and young son went out before him to get the car I think he went back in to use the rest room upon comming out he was going to his car and was approached from the rear by the robber. Apparently this guy was waiting on the side of the building for an opportunity. The guys wife notices from the parking space this guy searching her husband so she called 911 and tried to climb from the back where her young s was to the drivers seat in an attempt to run the robber over. The robber was completly pissed off because the son in law had nothing on him to steal his wife had his wallet and he had no cash. The gunman begins to swear and gt aggitated when his wife came around the corner in the car he just took off. Im just curious if this guy was that stealthy and fast or son in law was in condition white and had no sense of his surroundings. das

    Why not ask the son-in-law?

    We can only conjecture.

I would imagine that it would be difficult to be "situationally aware" of an individual lying in wait around the corner of a building.

A lot of missing info, lighting in the area, pedestrian traffic, area of town(know to be high crime, etc..) how many people at the restaurant, etc.........

In General I would say that it would have been better to stay together when leaving the restaurant, his wife and child could just as easily been a target, women fumbling with a child makes an easy mark.

I had a very difficult time reading your post, OP.

On topic, I agree with the rest of the folks that already said we need more information, and only then, without talking to the son-in-law directly, we still can't really say.

    no doubt.

we should all strive to maintain 360* situational awareness all the time.

but, the truth is that none of us have built in satellite imagery that lets us actually pull it off. heck, we don't even have eyes in the back of our heads.

we are all very, very susceptible to a well-planned, well-execute ambush. that is just a fact of life.

There are two few details to really say how SA the guy was but asking him would give you your best answer.

The wife and child are very lucky. If the bad guys going to choose an easy victim it does not get easier than a woman with child especially if your willing to threaten or advance towards that kid. I would have thought once the male was out of the picture he would have struck the female. Just goes to show you never can tell how it will play out.
