Default Do the Feds flag you if you buy too many guns...

Do the Feds flag you if you buy too many guns in a short period of time. Anyone know what that time period is?

I am planning on filling up a safe over the next few months and I want to stay under the radar.

The Feds have no idea of what guns and how many you buy, unless you buy more than 1 handgun from the same FFL in 5 business days time - then thats after the fact.. The dealer has to fill out a multi-purchase form and submit it.

You do not get flagged buy the federal NICS or state PICS for buying too many guns.

That's the answer then. Wait at least five days or use another dealer. Thanks

About a month ago I had put about 6 used shotguns in a shopping cart at cabela's. I only wanted one, but I wanted the person at the counter to remove the safety locks so I can see them better so I could decided which one I wanted. A number of people who believed I was going to buy all of them warned me about ending up on a Government watch list. I know they had good intentions and logically it seemed like the type of thing to be careful of. That is what led me to wanting to find out if it was true and to what extent.

Please educate us. What leads you to believe the commonwealth of Pennsylvania is tracking gun buyers beyond the PICS system?

Even if you buy more than 1 handgun from the same FFL in a 5 day period, it won't necessarily raise any eyebrows. As long as you have legitimate reasons for doing so, no one cares. My cousin is a collector and many times buys more than one at a time, especially if he is buying from another collector. He has never been contact by the BATFE.

I special ordered 11 S&W 422's and 622's for an instructor once. About 2 months after he picked them up and I did the appropriate paperwork, I got a call from the BATFE. I explained what went on and that was it. The guy that bought them never was contacted.

Don't worry, if you know how many you own, it's not enough.

If God didn't intend us to have guns why would he have given us a trigger finger?
