Default Lake City 07' XM855 Defective Round

Well, if anyone has an AR to blow up I think I found a round for you. Was counting a bag of XM855 (in other words, mildly damaged or defective discards) and I came across this round. I understand a dented case here and there but this case neck is split. If this is what $0.70/round is buying me...

In my personal experience, this defect is very common in XM855 and has been for years. Don't think I've seen one quite that bad, but many close.

XM193 on the other hand I've never seen a problem.

No idea why, but all the XM855 I've seen has been bordering on garbage. Or actual garbage. I can't believe they sell the stuff.

It looks like a hole in the case neck, I'm not going to try it, but it doesn't look like something I would want to fire?

Whenever I buy surplus ammo I give it a good once over. Looks like a production screwup. If you reload pull (and save) the projectile, dump the powder on the lawn and scrap the brass.

I have seen worse with Pakistani and Indian surplus .308 and .303 over the years.
