Default My wife and I OC for first time.

Went to see Ted Nugent at PA Outdoor Times Hunting and fishing show at the Convention Center in Altoona. After hearing Ted talk it made me think about OC. My wife and I decided we would OC the next day at the Convention Center. My Gun did not jump out and kill the puppys or eat any kids. I know that OC at an outdoor show is not A big step but until reading this forum I did not think I would ever open carry. Ted's call to arms push me to do it. I was very surprised how my Wife agreed so quickly. I did not notice alot of attention payed to me. But my wife seemed to shock several men. Most would smile after the shock left there face. I began to feel very comfortable after short time. Reading all the first time OC stories in this Forum helped alot with being comfortable. My wife did not read these stories and was feeling comfortable faster then I did.

I suspect that for a lot of guys, seeing a woman open carry is like seeing a woman in a big ol' 4wd truck. There's just something about it.

Women accessorize. They're natural at it!

I think folks are generally less concerned when they see a man and woman, or a family, out together when one of them is OCing. I think I get fewer glares, but I've yet to have a negative encounter anyway, so... *shrugs*

This is a great OC story, and I hope there are many more uneventful open carries in your future.

Rep inbound for you and your wife.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Congrats on your first uneventful OC. The first time is always hard, you think everyone is staring at you. Then you realize most people don't even realize you have it.

Congrats on your first OC!! The more you do it, the more comfortable you become.

I did not know that. He said all should be armed. Well I'am going to OC anyway.
Will have to disagree with him on that one.

Ah yes know this all too well as the same thing happens to Tootie when we are out and about. We have identified the exact modus operandi of said 'shocked' men and here is that process step by step:

    1. Man glancing at woman's ass

    2. Once he is zeroed in on said ass his eyes drift slightly upwards and to the hip

    3. Man notices said weapon

    4. Facial expressions morph from the sexual leer to the 'oh shit she has a gun'

    5. Man's 'privates' turn to turtle mode realizing said 'nice ass' would fill him full of lead if the situation required it.
