    Default help w/ assembly S&W

i took apart my dads s&w 6906 pistol and cant get the trigger to work, it wont catch the hammer, or pull back, althought i can cock and decock the hammer. its all together but i must have missed a step. i even looked in the manual and didnt catch anything i havent done. i been messing with it for over an hour and if someone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

im pretty sure all metal framed models have identical assembly also.

It may not work without the magazine inserted, try that first. If not take it back apart and try again.

It does have a mag disconnect, insert an EMPTY magazine and try again.

If it has a round trigger guard like pictured, and he wants to sell/trade it, I have been looking for one.

At least it was something simple.

    Ha Ha

Sorry can't help you ~ But to be young again, Your Post reminds me of when I was 10 or so and took apart my Dad's Ruger MK1 - Of all the guns to try to field strip..Boy he was pissed, If I remember he had to take it to a gunsmith.

Dad since passed on and I now own that same MK1 - Needless to say it's still a pain in the ass to field strip but at least I've gotten better at it.

If nothing else ~ thanks for the memories...

im the same way, when i took the s&w apart i also took apart his kimber, or atleast got the slide off, and took apart his ar-15.

needless to say it took me forever to put the slide release on the kimber, and i couldnt figure out how to put the bolt carrier on the ar-15, i was trying to put it in backwards lol.

I hope your dad knows your taking apart his weapons and you are not doing this on your own accord without his knowledge/permission.

My kid would be in trouble.
