AR 15 Magazine Rebuild
I was trying to rebuild several Colt magazines which I recently acquired, but have run into a problem. If you look at the photo, there is a tab (below the pen point), which locks into the base plate when the plate is in its correct position. The tab makes it impossible to insert a new, no-tilt follower into the magazine. I was wondering if anyone has found a way around this problem.
I know I could cut it off, but don't know if it will affect the performance, HELP!

Re: AR 15 Magazine Rebuild
The tab locks the base plate from sliding out. I'm not sure if you would have runaway base plates with out it, but I don't know that I'd cut it out unless you were replacing the base plates too.
Maybe try bending it out to get the new follower in, then bending it back.
Could always get other mags, unless you strongly desire the Colt mags.

Sucks about the pre-ban only situation.
Any luck with bending the tabs?
Were you able to get the followers out without bending the tabs?
I pulled apart a 20 since they're the only Colts I have, and I couldn't get the follower out without bending the tab.
