    Unhappy Dan Wesson Revolver Binding

    Hey PAFOA

I recently bought a Dan Wesson revolver model 15-2. Im having a problem with it where the cylinder binds up on me sometimes. With the cylinder empty there is no issue but if I hold the gun up against a light and slowly spin the cylinder it looks like it is the slightest bit off.

When I load brass with spent primers (poor mans snap caps) the cylinder completely locks up 15% of the time. I tried loading some winchester white box into the gun today at the range and the cylinder wouldn't even close half the time.

Do I need to buy a new cylinder assembly? Any thoughts on what to do about this?

    Thanks,

    Joe

    Before its asked:

    1. no I have not tried shooting it yet, I wanted to try loading the white box into the gun at the range so I could point the thing down range in case something spooky happened. Im assuming the base on the +p winchester is thicker than the non +p brass I was snapping on causing it to lock up even worse.

    2. there is only a tiny bit of side to side play in the cylinder and only the slightest bit of up and down play, it almost seems like the rod the cylinder rides on is bent just the slightest bit or something?

Is your DW one of the models that came with interchangeable barrels and the tools to set the cylinder gap (shim tools and barrel wrench, slotted "nut" on end of barrel)?

If so check your gap with the the tools provided or take to a gunsmith who can. Being how gross your alignment is off a good gunsmith is probably the best idea regardless.
