Bucks County LTCF Warning
Just a heads up to anyone that is trying to get or renew in Bucks Co. You may want to call before you go to make sure that they will be able to process the paperwork.
I went to the courthouse today and they told me that the system is down and that I will need to come back in a few days. They are not sure when the system will be back up and running. Hopefully tomorrow at the soonest.

Re: Bucks County LTCF Warning
Yeah I did. He was the least helpful person ever. He told me to just call tomorrow and hopefully they would be able to help me. I hope I can get it done this week since I will be out of town most of next week and by the time I get back I think my permit will be expired.

Re: Bucks County LTCF Warning
You have a 6 month grace period to renew, after the expiration date, as long as you remain eligible for a LTCF during that period, according to PA statutes
Title 18 §6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license.
(a) Offense defined.--
(1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree.
(2) A person who is otherwise eligible to possess a [FN1] valid license under this chapter but carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license and has not committed any other criminal violation commits a misdemeanor of the first degree.
(b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to:
<SNIP>
(12) A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and that said license expired within six months prior to the date of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for renewal of the license.Last edited by HiredGoon; February 16th, 2010 at 03:57 PM.

Re: Bucks County LTCF Warning
Actually, it is only valid for 5 years. 6106(b)(12)lists an exemption that seems to require you be arrested before the exemption applies, lol.
According to (12) you are exempt, if at the time of arrest you were otherwise eligible to renew, and your license expired less than 6 months from the date of arrest, and you actually have the lawfully issued, expired LTCF.
