Default Are there any laws against this?

I'm not sure how to explain this because I don't totally understand it my self.

Over the course of about 9 months I have carried both openly and concealed to the place where I get my hair cut. I have known the owner (he also cuts my hair) for several years and we always talk guns, and gun laws and such. Last month he showed me that he finally decided to go get his LTCF. He said his main concern is that he is often at his shop late at night, plus he makes deposits through-out the day to the bank.

Here is the part I don't understand.

He said that his Cosmetology License is issued by the state and they have very strict rules for any Cosmetology Establishment like his salon. He said they prohibit weapons on the premisis. He actually found an old shotgun and was going to have it mounted and hang it up in his shop and the "Hair Police" said no.

I know nothing of Cosmetology laws, but is this BS? Could he lose his "Hair License" for carrying in his own business?

The whole situation seems weird to me, and I had no ida what to tell him.

None that I know of, if it's a state issued licence there would be some constitutional problems with them trying that one.

I'm afraid you won't get many replies to your question. While we don't mind taking on the US Government, State Government, BATF, IRS, UN and Canada - not many of us would run the risk of going up against the dreaded Cosmetology Establishment. Oh, not me that's for sure.

PS. I think your buddy was just pulling your hair hmmm leg.

No he wasn't ribbing me, it may be BS, but he believes it. I just don't know where he's getting his information from.

Check the PA Department of State website...the applicable code should be found there.

I do not believe that to be true. We have friends who have State (PA) licenses to practice their profession and the only requirements they have are health standards or training standards (certification - same as cosmetology). They received a 'license to practice or sell'. The license did not come with any documentation stating HOW they were to practice their profession.

Is it at all possible that the landlord has something in his lease that directly forbids this ?

Personally - I'd say that someone has pulled the wool over his eyes.

Or as my Dad was fond of saying…. 'That's pure Horse Shit !'

Well he owns the building. I'll talk to him again. I would assume he has some sort of "union rep" he can ask these questions to.

    Thanks

print this out for your barber friend...

its from the state board of cosmetology web site:

    http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/04...7/049_0007.pdf

nothing in there prohibiting carrying of firearms.

now the doofus who does the inspections of the shops may have fed your friend that line of poop...........

    hope this helps
