    Default Question Regarding Reciprocity

There's a trip being planned which involves me to Michigan. The way it seems to me is I'll leave my house as I normally do, at the Ohio border separate my Glock from its ammo and cross Ohio. Once we hit Indiana/Michigan (not sure how we're going) I can reunite the two and place them back in their holster on my hip, correct?

I'm pretty sure this is how the whole thing works from what I've read, but I'm not 100% and I'd rather find out I'm wrong here, than from the Michigan-based officer holding my face to the pavement....

I hope your trip goes well. BTW - I'm not Fred, I just like what he wrote.

When are you leaving? If you take my Utah course on 2/28 in Upland, PA you may not have to do that at the Ohio border. All depends how soon you're leaving.

There is a wrinkle in Ohio law (and some other states). You also need to unload your magazines and speedloaders -- having a loaded mag anywhere in the vehicle "loads" your gun.

Sec 2923.16 (K)(5) "Unloaded" means, with any of the following:
    (a) No ammunition is in the firearm in question, and no ammunition is loaded into a magazine or speed loader that may be used with the firearm in question and that is located anywhere within the vehicle in question, without regard to where ammunition otherwise is located within the vehicle in question.

Well that sounds like a bi**h, my mag holds 15... Wonder how passing motorists would react to someone sitting along side the road reloading for that long...especially if in my morning rush I leave the other two in their pouch....

GL23; I'm not leaving til the summer, what's this Utah course entail and how would it help me out? IE Is there a thread somewhere I'm missing to check out the information?

Hmm. I just ran a trip that I plan on taking later this spring through that site and it claims that I can't carry in West Virginia. WV accepts both my UT and PA permits but that site claims they don't honor non-resident permits. Handgunlaw.us claims that they do.

    I wonder who is right?

A little research goes a long way when you want to know anything...

    http://forum.pafoa.org/general-2/754...eement-wv.html

Seems West Virginia did not accept non-resident licenses until last summer. Info was probably never updated.

Don't rely solely on second hand info. Get direction and then find the actual laws you will need to understand and read them for yourself. Then you can make an informed decision.
