Carrying after surgery. Anyone else ever do it?
So on Tuesday I had surgery to get my hernia fixed. My stomach hurts still, swelled finally got pants on and a belt to carry. I am curious has anyone else carried a few days after surgery? Were you more aware of your surroundings? I've taken notice I have, only because if something happens, I can't react fast enough. I can't twist, bend, or anything like that. I can turn but it has to be slow.
I cannot wait to I feel better.

Re: Carrying after surgery. Anyone else ever do it?
I have carried after surgery. In Sept I had a nasty accident and long story short had a thin metal piece similar to rebar puncture through my stomach and colon embedding in my hip breaking it.
When released from the hospital I carried a p3at or Glock 26 in pocket holsters. They were in my sweatshirt pocket and were easily accessible yet the weight of them were on my shoulders and not my stomach or hip.
Customloaded means that while when healthy a situation may not warrent deadly force your physical limitations would justify it.

I actually waited a few days after my ankle surgery, until I was comfortable enough with my crutches to be able to draw without falling down. I did not want to put myself in a position where I would have to fumble for the gun if I needed it.
I don't think I would have carried very soon after my abdominal surgery, but I didn't carry at that time.

I am actually going in for brain surgery next Tuesday, and if I HAD a gun already, believe me, I would be carrying it.

Is there some reason for not carrying DURING surgery?

When I went into the hospital to have my appendix removed, I actually had my carry gun (in the holster) in the little bag for personal belongings and clothes. It went with me into the OR, and it stayed with me the whole week I was in. Nobody had a clue but me.
I couldn't wear a belt for about two weeks after the surgery, but I always had a gun with me wherever I went.
