Hey im thinking about ordering a m1 Carbine from the CMP but im a little scared to spend $440+ on a rifle i dont even know the condition of. so i think everyone whos bought something from them should post a pic of it! include the grade and maker you ordered. thanks!

We keep telling you, you shouldn't be disappointed. This was my rack grade Rockola. Stock was dry and needed some coats of tung oil, thats it. Don't have any 'now' pics. This was when I first opened the box.

Very good barrel.

You do have another option. You could drive to the North Store at Camp Perry (Port Clinton, Ohio, just west of Cleveland) and hand select your own Carbine/Garand and walk out the door. If that makes you feel any better. Not that far of a drive from da burgh, I've made the trip several times from Williamsport. Now I plan on going up sometime in the next month or two. If you have the requirements covered and copies of everything needed, you could come along, and I can help you pick one out. As long as you're not looking for collectability. I'm still learning about carbines, but I know enough to be able to pick out one that's a shooter.

Inland rack grades are about $450 delivered. CMP is the best value in mil-surps right now. Go for it... you'll love it.

Service Grades are $595.00 plus tax at the North store.

Found this one in July 2007. Had an ugly GAW stock on her but sold that for $160.00 and bought a CMP walnut set. SA 5.9 range, 1965 barrel, 1966 L.E.A.D. rebuild. Guaged around 1.5 both ends.

This is her after the new wood. She shoots a LOT better than I can.

The latest batch of SG's to hit the stores should be REALLY nice.

I've made a couple CMP trips over the years. Here's 03 Springfield, 03A3 Remington, HRA Garand, Springfield Garand. Not in that order. Also, now everyone who didn't know will know what the extra hooks are for.
