Re: Best AR-15 for $1,000?
Very good info, will be picking up an AR-15 (M4) at the next gun show. Starting to do some research now. Not really intersted in anything more than stock , maybe its the amry in me but all the stuff i see strapped onto some ar's screams Rambo to me.

Oh you've pegged me wrong if you think I settle at 10 mags as minimum. :-)
I should have said 10 mags to start...
Don't want to scare a new owner away by saying "You should have 50-100 mags in a stockpile in addition to your normal rotation...etc"
They'll find out (hopefully) as the get more into the platform, training, preparedness etc.
Adding 10 mags and swallowing the initial cost ($100) is easier that way.
Personally, I think one should spend the approximate value of the rifle in magazines as well. Especially when one has 3-4 AR's and 5 magazines to go around... Really?!?!

Re: Best AR-15 for $1,000?
I own a stag myself. Love it.. Got a nice red dot for it. Nikon monarcy( spelled it wrong i think) but yeah. Get p mags if you can. I have about 30 of them. I paid 899 for my stag. But i saw a DPMS for 799. At my gun store down the sfreet from my house 2 weeks ago. I cant wait till my taxes come back so i can go get it. But good luck. Dont forget to stock up on ammo after that lol. The ar is usless with out bullets when zombies come.
