Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society
Probably be there Saturday AM; we're in the area this weekend visiting one of the young'uns at college.
I'm always keen to see if any rusty old 1873 Trapdoor Springfield parts or $1500-$2500 ex-CMP Garands have sold since the last show . . .

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society
Paul, I'll explain for Noah...the FOD show at Allentown has stagnated very badly. Don't get me wrong, they're nice folks and I'm not judging, but a lot of folks don't go but once every two years or so and even then, it's the same stuff- even the same guns, sometimes.
On the other hand, the members/dealers are nice folks, ready to lend a hand or give out info when they can.
A few of the dealers have CMP-grade Garands that are...a bit inflated in price, maybe, is a good way to put it.

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society
As far as buying a Garand from a show its up to the buyer to be educated enough to compare CMP versus show prices and weather they want to wait a month for a CMP rifle or (I want It now). And in my opinion you get what you pay for these days. It doesn't matter if its new old or custom its a matter of knowing what you want to pay for

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society
I intend on hitting it Saturday. A friend of mine's son is really interested in Civil War guns, I told him it would be a good place to see a few.

Just got back to the motel. You didn't miss a thing. Same show, different date.
Maybe not the same show, because there were some tables missing in the back of the small hall, and LOTS of empty tables. Not a lot of commerce except for magazines and accessories and bulk ammo. Some regular dealers were absent, other dealers talking about how it's so hard to make their costs.
Quite a few stinkers, but I brought my small jar of Vicks!
