taurus ultralite titanium 44 mag....
http://www.lipseys.com/eImages/44magultralite.jpg
Put this on law away today till the weekend. Anyone fired one? Anyone know of any issues to look out for? I tried 2 one was very smooth, the other felt like there was some kind of resistance halfway thru pulling the hammer back sometimes....and for being brand new it had a wear ring around the notches on the cylinder. The one I got was close to as smooth as my colt king cobra.
Probably gonna buy a few boxes of 44 special to check it out and sight it in. Never had a 44 mag before any suggestions on a magnum round for it? Will be used only when I go camping or hunting or fishing. I assume any round will have energy to spare so light recoil and decent bullet design are the factors.
Looking at it online I thought the fiber front sight was stupid and I wouldnt like it. But after seeing it and messin with it I think it will work nicely on bright nights or around the campfire.
Now If I can find the 44 mag lever carbine Ill be a happy camper.

Re: taurus ultralite titanium 44 mag....
One problem to watch out for is the unseating of bullets in the cylinder when using magnum loads. Heavy bullets in .44 Mag offer more resistance to the recoil pulse while the cylinder and casings are being hammered back in recoil. This causes heavy weight bullets to unseat (move toward the muzzle). This effect is very common is the very light weight Smith and Wesson revolvers (Taurus weighs 28 ounces, Smith 329 PD weighs 26 ounces).
The way to remedy this is to use light weight .44 bullets, somewhere in the range of 200 grains or under in full power magnum loads. I would bet that this topic is covered in the Taurus user manual. Congrats on your magnum and safe wheelgunning...Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Try "taurusarmed.net". They have alot of good info about the full taurus line and I researched my 85UL there. Good luck, looks like a fun revolver.

Re: taurus ultralite titanium 44 mag....
I use full house 240 grainers or my own reloaded 300 grainers in my 329PD and yet to have a bullet unseat under recoil. I have checked my log book and have sent 3,012 of the 240 grainers down range & and 1,000 300 grainers.
That IMHO is a problem with the Smith's light weight .357 Mags and the stamped to warn of this problem on the .357.

It is going to hurt you !
I have Smith 44 specials and mags in 3" barrels but all steel,
The mags are a handful but managable to me,,,
SHooting the specials will be nicer to you.
Dont bother with buying 3 boxes of 44 specials, Very costly.
I shoot about 12 rounds through mine a year and sleep with it under my pillow while camping in bear country about two weeks a year,
What you have there is a close up and personal hand cannon, Not a 50 yard deer slayer..
You will like it ! !
Post pics when you get it or it didnt really happen!

I would rather die in a shootout than get assassinated in a "gun free zone"
