Re: I can haz mosin?
Do you guys think I should headspace it? I bought it through aimsurplus.com. I called the site today, and the guy said that all the surplus rifles were last headspaced in the 1960's and "shouldn't" have been fired since then. Am I being over-cautious? I want to shoot this thing!!!

Re: I can haz mosin?
First bolt-action I bought I was nervous to shoot so I had it checked. It wasn't perfect but it was safe enough. After that I started shooting everything I bought as soon as I got it. I still think "do you feel lucky, punk" the first time I squeeze one off on a new rifle though. I doubt that ever goes away.
Chances are you're going to be fine. Personally I'd shoot it knowing it came from Aim and they're not selling junk. But $15 is a small price to pay to put yourself at ease before the first trigger pull if you're really uncomfortable with it.

And now you have to decide what to feed it.
I just got a case of Polish from the 50's, I plan on trying out this weekend. My BIL is coming up from NYC and after we hit the York show off to the range we go!Last edited by OvadekP; February 23rd, 2010 at 12:23 PM. Reason: spelling error

She's coming together nicely. New stock and bipod are on. Will be taking her to the range for the first time this weekend. Perhaps a new front site next. I can't decide on whether to add a scope or not. It feels good to have my first "real" rifle.

Re: I can haz mosin?
I picked up 2 (1 for my son and 1 for me) 91/30's a few days ago at Cabelas. Both 1942 russian and they must have gotten a surplus shipment of them in, they had about 25-30 of them. $149 each and come with the accessorie kit and box. These are redone and look very nice, all number matching and very nice stocks. Plan on cleaning it and taking it to the range this weekend. Mine will remain all stock, also I just saw an M44 at a local shop???
