Tell that to Keith Robinson who had Performance Machine in Upper Black Eddy after he split one in half.(he survived) Or the countless Iron Butt riders I know that have had incidences. Famous last words.

Two summers ago when I was in Pocono Medical Center after falling at the cabin and getting a tib/fib fracture, there was a couple from Illinois who had their hog cut off by bambi & family. The wife was OK but the man required a few stitches. They had a bike tow policy & I listened to him making calls to get it towed to HD. The glide took the worst of it.

The $900.00 for a 9 mile ambulance ride was a shocker!

Before the Feds were there, I used to tarvel that stretch every weekend after getting out of work at midnight. Rarely went under 60 mph except when I caught up to someone and couldn't pass or if I occasionally encountered a LEO. The biggest hazard seemed to be crossing deer, bears and foxes. 4-5 years of weekends and only a few warnings in PA.

The NY stretch, north of Port Jervis was a lot riskier for tickets. The NY State Police set up there radar traps in the safe straight stretches. On the dangerous curvey sections, it was safer (ticket-wise) to speed.

Wow and Iron Butt reference...are you a rider too? I do live less than a 1/2 mile from Jim Owen the most recent Iron Butt Rally winner.

Nope no Iron Butter. I have ridden around the block once or twice though on a scooter plus over 3 1/2 million miles in a big truck.
