Default Careers with Act 235 cert.

Hi this is my first post here so forgive me if it's in the wrong place. I'm looking for a new career, I'm in the process of getting my letter from the state police so I can take Act 235 training I also have a BS in Criminal Justice. I started working toward the 235 training because I have a friend who has been doing armed security in center city at some federal buildings and assured me he could get me a job there when I complete the training. So my question is if I can't get hired where my friend works what other job opportunities are out there that have decent compensation? Thanks in advance for any info.

VERY few armed guard jobs pay anything worthwhile. most of the time it's just a handjob for the clients insurance company! think warm body and lowest pay they can get away with!

apply for part time police officer, they hire part timers to see if they are good enough to make full time, i wish i could do something like that cuz i like to drive around in a police car i think it pretty cool but its a dangerous job for any act 235 related job. if you have a BS in criminal justice thats a good bet. scroll down to Police officer and LE career.

I am taking the certification course starting next sat. I am working to get a job with the county as security and then want to eventually get my foot in the door at the sheriffs office.

Act 235 won't do for part time police officer. To be a police officer, part or full time, you will need the Act 120.

Thanks for all the responses, hopefully it's no prob getting in the same company my friend works at, it seems to pay a decent amount more then most other security companies.

I am not that familiar with the Bucks area, but up by me most of the private community Public Safety departments are 235 jobs.
