Default Gun dealer refused to show me a gun at the Allenwood Gun Show

    Hello all,
I was at the Allenwood Gun Show last week to fondle a few guns and decide on what compact 45 to purchase. Had a good time and all of the venders were polite and informative. I approached one vender and asked to look at a Colt and as he was handing it to me, asked if I was from NJ or PA. When I informed him I was from Jersey he quickly put the gun away stating he did not deal with people from NJ. I asked if he would ship to a NJ FFL and he very arrogantly stated no and walked away. Needless to say I was very put back by his actions. Other dealers had no problem with my residency even letting me know that they would have to ship to a NJ FFL for any purchase. Guess I am just venting here a little bit and hope this does not become a trend. Anyone have any guess why the attitude?

    because we don't like NJ?
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Lots of FFL's here in PA don't deal with NJ or NY just due to the legal stupidity of their laws in each respectively. Won't ship to or recieve from and probably have a legitimate reason not to

Unfortunately this is a growing trend with dealers. It's more of a problem with California sales, where the state of California require pre-approval before shipment. Some dealers have chosen to cease business with California completely, blaming California residents for their voting habits. NJ, while not quite draconian as California, is still strict enough to draw a similar reaction from gun dealers. For others, sales to these areas are more trouble than they're worth.

If you browse the gun auctions, you'll see a lot of sales terms that read "no sales to California or NJ".

Here are a couple of examples:
    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=156832795
No sales to NJ, MA, NY, CA, CT, HI, Chicago or anywhere prohibited by local law. We do not modify guns "to fit" in prohibited areas.

THIS IS AN ANTIQUE NO FFL REQUIRED NO SALES TO N.J. OR N.Y.C.
Unfortunately, they can refrain from sales in your area, your choices appear to be: shopping around for more accommodating dealers, or relocate to another state that accommodates your interests.

Based on your description, the dealer you encountered could have been a little more polite and explained the issue.
Gloria: "65 percent of the people murdered in the last 10 years were killed by hand guns"
Archie Bunker: "would it make you feel better, little girl, if they was pushed outta windows?"

not to be a dick, but i've refused sales to NJ residents before, as well. it's just too much of a headache, and i'd rather not sell a gun to someone who won't even be able to carry it legally. does that make me racist? maybe; i heard NJ's new middle name is Hussein...

Same here. Not worth the hassle really. One time I had someone from the "EU" ask me to illegally send them a gun through the mail after a few pm exchanges over my classifieds add. Jaybell found out the guy was from england and put some scare into him before the ban hammer fell.

These dealers are bad business people IMO. As long as everything is legal, ship it.

I used to live in NJ & had no issues buying in PA several times.

    Dude!

You escaped from NJ - even came to a gun show - then... went back? To Brick no less!??!

    I'm sorry, but - that's crazy!
