Default CeaseFire & Brady Campaign: Ban Guns in Starbucks

Since Washington CeaseFire made all that noise with the semi-auto "military" rifle ban, I decided to sign up for their newsletter to keep an eye on them...anyway, this came into my e-mail today:

    _______________________________________

    Dear Supporter,

Washington Ceasefire is reaching out to you on behalf of the Brady Campaign. Over the past few months, more and more gun owners have been gathering at restaurants and coffee shops like Starbucks with guns strapped to their hips, intimidating fellow patrons.

Businesses can legally prohibit guns from being carried in their establishments - and so far, Peet's Coffee & Tea and California Pizza Kitchen have heeded customer concerns and barred the open carrying of guns.
Starbucks Refuses to Prohibit Firearms in its Stores

But Starbucks is refusing to prohibit the open carrying of firearms in its stores, despite protests from loyal customers.

Click here to sign the petition to let Starbuck know that you want them to stand up for the safety of their customers and adopt a nationwide, gun-free policy in all Starbucks stores

Because of Starbucks' refusal, the Brady Campaign has teamed up with CREDO Action to tell Starbucks to keep guns out of its coffee shops.

The practice of packing heat in places like Starbucks is intimidating and could be potentially dangerous to our families and communities - and it must be stopped.

It's everyone's right to sit in a restaurant or coffee shop with their families without intimidation or fear of guns, either concealed or openly carried.
Tell Starbucks to Adopt a gun-free policy

Under the law, Starbucks has the right to adopt a gun-free policy, with an exception for uniformed police officers. Such a policy can easily be implemented in most cases by putting up signs at store entrances.

We need to tell Starbucks to bar guns in its stores. These individuals who have been carrying guns into Starbucks have all the firepower of a SWAT team, and none of the law enforcement training.

Please sign the petition to Starbucks today!

Spread the word! Send this email to a friend!

    Sincerely,

Washington Ceasefire & The Brady Campaign

Wow, now instead of trying to force laws through they want to force private businesses to adopt a no gun policy. These people never cease to make me want to vomit.

Angry Brady Campain "No guns in Starbucks"

    http://www.credoaction.com/campaign/...s/?rc=homepage

My brother just sent me this.
He thinks we need to send emails to Starbucks to let them know we support them.

I personally didn't care for Starbucks before, but now I am going to show my support.

So, I urge you all to send an email or call corporate to let them know not to ban guns in Starbucks.

    Here you go.

I just read that while hitting myself in the head, in an attempt to have it make sense. But I still can't understand people like this and I have a headache to boot.

On the upside, I see Starbucks in a slightly better light. Don't get me wrong, I still won't pay for their pretentious swill. But atleast they support the Second Amendment, for now.

The Brady's can suck my uniball. Personally, I don't drink at Starbucks often, but I'd happily show them my support if they defend gun carriers rights.

I think the more interesting item in the story is this:

"Businesses can legally create policies to prohibit guns from being carried in their establishments -- and so far, Peet's Coffee & Tea and California Pizza Kitchen have heeded customer concerns and barred open carrying."
Bummer, I liked CPK pizza. Oh well, plenty of other good pizza joints around.

How about this NJ SWAT team on maneuvers during a supposed mission of mercy to help survivors of Hurricane Katrin hurricane stopping over and sharing their NJ police issued weapons with the Hooters girls and letting them hold their weapons in Alabama.

Notice the pistol in the mid section and SWAT teams like this are the model for Brady bunch in a news release about having firearms.
