Well, it's a 7075-T6 aluminum forging, type III anodized, and a quality lower parts kit fit great in it. I put a 20" BCM government profile upper receiver on it.

As long as you buy a lower receiver from a reputable manufacturer, it'll be as close to mil-spec as you can get. You cannot buy a "truly mil-spec" lower receiver (at least not one that's been manufactured after 1986.) LRB Arms is new to the AR-15 game but they're well known in the M14/M1A community for their top-of-the-line M14 receivers, and they stand behind their products.

I am very happy with my Aero Precision lower. Great fit with my YHM upper and DPMS LPK. Performs flawlessly with USGI mags and Pmags.

Just picked up a Spikes lower at the gun show for 99.00, no complaints as it went together perfectly. Mags fit perfect, both GI and Pmags. My uppers fit perfectly also.

Thanks KCR, I went with your recommendation for the LRB. Based on their reputation with M14 I'm confident in their AR also. For $79 I'm pretty happy. I'm hoping to be more than happy when complete, I should be building in the next week or 2.

LRB all the way, Larry used to be my Neighbor when i lived on Long Island, a quality product at a reaSOnable price, and to answer your question LRB lowers are a direct copy of a Bushmaster lower , and yes they are Milspec, any Milaspec parts kit will slip right on in , unlike most Colt's with thier unusual Pin sizes .

I find the finishes on the LRB to tougher than the finish on the Bushy.
