what kind of ammo can you use in a ccw?
I have one question about what kind of ammo you can use. When I am out of the house can carrying my gun, I want to use more lethal ammo than practice slugs. But I was told that you cant use home protection rounds outside of the house. What kind of ammo can you carry outside of the house?

Re: what kind of ammo can you use in a ccw?
What?? Who told you that you can't use "home protection rounds" (whatever those are) outside your residence?
And what are "practice slugs"?
First, you can use whatever round you want in your guns, there are no restrictions or limits.....aside from doctoring the bullet and we won't go into that.
If by "practice slugs" you mean FMJ bullets.....you can most certainly use them in or out of your residence.
And if by "home protection rounds" you mean hollow point bullets.....again, you can use them if you wish, and most people use these types.

FMJ is the most economical route for shooting targets, though you should put some HP's through your piece at the range just to see how it handle's them if you haven't already.

There are some restricted bullets, such as armor piercing, teflon coated, etc. But hollow points, soft jackets, full metal jackets are all legal for carry and use in or outside your home.

I use FMJ for the range only because its cheaper. I have a .38spcl. and you know .38 is expensive ammo.
The SJ hollow for carry and home. I did use a few at the range, but unfortunately, its too expensive to do that all the time. I do like the SJ hollows---ALOT!

Re: what kind of ammo can you use in a ccw?
You can use anything except explosive or incendiary ammo for CCW purposes.
Explosive and incendiary are prohibited as a Offensive Weapon under PA law(§ 908). Armor piercing ammo is only prohibited to be used during a commission of a crime(§ 6121).
Only New Jersey has laws prohibiting the carrying of anything but roundnose or ball ammo outside of one's house.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515
